Abstract

At a macro level, demand for workers with data analysis skills has skyrocketed. The Future of Jobs report from the World Economic Forum consistently places analytical thinking and big data analytics as the most needed skills by global industries. Data literacy is one of the crucial competencies that young people must have in today's digital era, but initial understanding still varies among vocational students. This community service activity aims to improve students' data analysis competencies at SMKN 64 Jakarta through a socialization approach and interactive workshops. Based on the results of the pre-test on 33 students, it was found that the initial level of understanding was in the "Quite Understand" category with an average score of 63.03%, where 27% of students were in the low understanding category. After the interactive workshop which included hands-on practice using Google Sheets, the post-test results showed a significant increase. The average student understanding score increased to 77.80% with the "Understand" category. Drastically, this activity succeeded in reducing the number of students in the low understanding category from 9 people (27%) to only 1 person (3%). This proves that the hands-on workshop method is very effective in significantly improving students' data analysis competencies and reducing the understanding gap. This activity also succeeded in fostering students' interest in the importance of data analysis in academic and work contexts, as well as providing a foundation of skills that can be further developed in the future.
