Abstract

Environmental degradation that occurs such as the thinning of the ozone layer, climate change, air, water and soil pollution are major global concerns. Environmental degradation is environmental damage characterized by a decrease in the quality of natural resources. This environmental degradation can be caused by natural factors and also by human actions. Waste is a serious problem because it has an impact on environmental damage. Waste produced from households contributes significantly to environmental pollution. Processing used cooking oil is important because of the impact of used cooking oil that can damage the environment. This is the focus of this community service activity, namely converting used cooking oil into marketable products. Training activities are given to mothers in Padukuhan Grujugan, Bantul, the majority of whom are housewives. Activities include training in analyzing business opportunities and training in making products with used cooking oil. This community service method uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which aims to empower the community by meeting community needs through lectures, discussions, and practices. The results of this activity are aromatherapy candle products that can be produced by recycling used cooking oil and the ability of partners to analyze the competitive advantage strategy of the product. This product has a business opportunity and is able to compete if developed creatively. The constraints in this activity are that the process of making a product into a finished product takes a long time and the business development training provided is not comprehensive.
